New Years
On New Years day we went hiking. The Girls had so much fun! When it was over Nina did not want to leave and of course Elle was ready to go as soon as we got down from the top. It was not hard or long at all the whole climb up was about maybe 10 min. It was a good warm up for a harder one next time!

The Engagement
So everyone keeps saying that Tres and I need a blog, so I figured that I better get on it.
Treslee and I have been dating for 4 months or so. It has been great. She makes me laugh a lot and we complement each other very well. Really, we are opposites in many ways.
On Labor Day, we went to a bbq at her parent's house. I had been trying to find a time that I could talk to her dad to get permission to marry her, but he was always with other people. Although I already knew that her family (and her) was ok with me marrying her, I was still nervous! Most of the family was having a contest to see who could do the most handstand pushups. They told me that it was my turn, but I had a ring in my pocket that I didn't want falling out. I mentioned this fact to her brother. A short time later, Treslee and I were about to leave to the movie; Tres went to the other room for some reason. I saw that was my chance to talk to her dad real quick, which I did.
I asked him if I could ask her to marry me. He said, "Right now?" I told him no, but soon. He responded that he would be honored and gave me a hug. OK, one obstacle down. Now only the biggest one left: coming up with the courage to ask.
I planned to ask her in a park. I was going to pretend to ask a few times first, just to drive her crazy. I do things like that a lot. So there we were, on our way to a (dumb) movie. I untied my shoe in the car. When we got out in the parking lot I was going to do my first "pretend" ask. I got down on one knee to tie my shoe. Racing through my head was a fear that her brother would call her or text her or something prior to me actually asking. I wanted to surprise her. She had no idea that I had purchased a ring or spoken to her dad. All this was going through my head as I got on my knee in the hot parking lot. I looked up and said that I needed to do something.
As I reached into my pocket to grab the ring, Treslee started saying, "No sir." "No you are not." "You are?" I couldn't fake ask at that point. I was too nervous. I had come this far. I wanted to ask her. I was going to ask her later, but I just couldn't help myself. I asked her to marry me right then and there in the *gulp* parking lot of the AMC theater. She looked at me for what felt like 10 minutes, although it was probably only 5 seconds. Finally she said yes!
Anyway. Thought you all might like to hear the story.
